The Challenge

Manitoba’s reliance upon expensive imported natural gas incurs a significant financial burden for Manitoba communities and citizens. This causes a reduced capacity for Manitobans to afford other essential goods and services and support economic development in Manitoba. In addition, personal behaviour and practices are a way in which energy is wasted in Manitoba, and can be addressed through education, outreach, and incentives.

Our Response

As a key delivery agent of the Green and Growing strategy, Green Manitoba will adopt policies to maximize opportunities for reduction of reliance on imported non-renewable natural gas resources for Manitoba communities. We will collaborate with our partners to take regional and local action on energy efficiency through education and outreach in order to maximize the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, wasteful energy practices, and reliance on imported energy sources.
