Introducing GREEN MANITOBA

Established in 2006, Green Manitoba is an agency of the provincial Government that works with a diverse range of public and private sector organizations to help create a greener and cleaner Manitoba. Green Manitoba is the province’s information hub on sustainability initiatives. We act as a service delivery agent for government departments and a wide range of public and private sector organizations.

Our Vision and Mission

Green Manitoba's Vision:

"A Manitoba where natural resources are used wisely, waste is reduced, climate change impacts are minimized, and sustainable development is understood to be a key to economic prosperity and a high quality of life."

 

Green Manitoba's Mission Statement:

"To promote sustainability practices by bringing together all partners, and in doing so, achieve more than if each acted alone."

Core Values

Green Manitoba operates in accordance with the following fundamental values:

þ      collaborative relationships with partners will be established and maintained,

þ      innovative solutions will be sought,

þ      results will be demonstrated,

þ      community capacity will be leveraged and strengthened,

Our Program Areas

Green Manitoba specifically aims to address the following six areas:

 

  1. develop and manage waste reduction initiatives
  2. increase energy efficiency throughout Manitoba
  3. reduce GHG emissions through positive climate change actions
  4. conserve and use water wisely
  5. encourage sustainable transportation practices, and
  6. provide Manitobans with knowledge and skills to enable them to learn about, make choices and take action that contribute to living in a sustainable manner.
