Manitoba's NEW Replacement Gas Furnace and Boiler Regulation

Effective December 31, 2009, most new replacement furnaces will be required to have a minimum efficiency of 92 per cent. Comparable standards of 82 per cent and 80 per cent are established for replacement hot-water boilers and low-pressure steam boilers respectively.

E-waste Roundup

GREEN MANITOBA's E-waste Depots Open Year-Round!

Green Manitoba is pleased to announce the return of provincial electronic waste collection sites for 2009-10. As part of the province’s E-waste recycling program, 31 temporary collection points were established throughout Manitoba. The summer/fall depots closed on October 31, 2009 and there are currently eleven depots available on a year-round basis. Please see the below link to view the depot locations and operating hours.

E-waste Roundup depots accept a variety of items such as TVs, VCRs and computers. Please see the below link to view the entire list of materials accepted in the program.

The E-waste Roundup program provides E-waste recycling services free-of-charge to residents of Manitoba.

The 2007 & 2008 E-waste Roundup programs kept over 1 million kilograms of E-waste out of Manitoba's landfills.

WRARS Program

A Waste Reduction and Recycling Support (WRARS) Levy of $10 per tonne is introduced on waste disposed at Manitoba landfills. The WRARS Levy is intended to help discourage waste generation and encourage increased recycling and waste diversion activities. Eighty percent of the revenue collected from this levy will be rebated to municipalities to further promote recycling in Manitoba, with the remainder of the funding to be used for increased support for provincial e-waste and hazardous waste collection programs across Manitoba.
